Third Street Partners

For 130 years, Third Street has been guided by the belief that arts education is a right, not a privilege.


Our Third Street Partners program furthers our goal to ensure equitable access by placing highly trained teaching artists in NYC public schools to provide music and dance instruction to students across the five boroughs.

Why Third Street Partners is Unique

  • Programs are offered throughout the full school year.
  • Instruction is customized for each school to provide classes in a discipline of interest (i.e. rock band, violin, dance, chorus, percussion) and align with academic goals.
  • Professional musicians and dancers present concerts for students in their schools. For many students, these concerts are their first exposure to professional productions.
  • Programs culminate in opportunities for students to perform for their communities.
  • Students are invited to enroll in two years of FREE music and dance instruction at Third Street Music School.

THIRD STREET PARTNERS NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT

To address unprecedented public and private cuts to arts education funding, Third Street underwrites an average of 57% of the costs of programming to ensure that NYC public school students do not lose access to the transformative benefits or arts education.

Sponsor-a-School Today! 

Gifts at every level include support for a year-long arts education program, offered once a week, and a culminating performance in your sponsored school:

$10,000

will provide instruction for 100 students.

$20,000

will provide instruction for 200 students AND a class set of instruments such as violins, ukuleles, of Orff instruments for students to practice with at school.

$30,000

will provide instruction for 300 students AND free instrument loans that students may take home to practice with outside of the classroom.
