Third Street's Saturday Orchestras program brings instrumentalists together for inclusive, ensemble-based music-making in a friendly environment. With four orchestras to select from, virtually all musicians will find the right place for themselves to create beautiful music with their peers.
Playing in orchestra provides an incredible opportunity for students to enrich their music education and gain valuable social experiences by making music on a grand scale with their peers. With multiple Saturday orchestras, young musicians ages five through 19, from the very beginner to the most advanced, are guaranteed to find a home in one of our ensembles.

Open by Audition for ages 5-9
Repertoire Level: Completion of Suzuki Book 1 with entry into Book 2
Designed as a "first" experience in ensemble playing, In Overture students learn to follow a conductor and develop leadership skills within the group; increasing independence, reading skills, and aural/visual coordination.

Price: $275 annually as an add-on activity to individual lessons at Third Street. $840 annually for all others.

Completion of Suzuki Book 3 (violin, viola, cello) and Book 2 (bass)
An exploration in sound! Building on the foundational skills learned in Overture, Con Spirito students enjoy playing the repertoire of many styles and traditions. The group focuses on advanced bowing skills, the ability to play independent musical lines and dynamic interpretation.

Completion of Suzuki Book 4 (violin, viola, cello) and Book 3(bass)
In this strings-only group, students learn more advanced repertoire - from the renaissance to contemporary styles and original pieces. Students gain increased skill in sight-reading as we employ more advanced rehearsal techniques, music theory concepts, and practicing strategies.

Advanced Mixed Ensemble Orchestra
Open for advanced students of all ages with placement audition.
An orchestra for our community! Philharmonia dives deep into professional-level repertoire and provides an immersive, full orchestra experience. The Philharmonia performs great masterworks, commissioned pieces, and
lesser-known gems from across the musical universe while encouraging musicians to further push their musicianship and technique.
