Let Third Street's Expertise Become Your Expertise

Through a partnership with the NYC Department of Education, Third Street provides tailored coaching residency programs that allow teaching artists to work directly with classroom teaching teams to provide targeted coaching and support to early childhood educators.

Trained Third Street faculty members partner support and coach teaching team members in implementing music into everyday routines, activities and units of study. These professional development residencies take place in the classroom as well as through remote learning to make a meaningful impact and allow the greatest opportunity for success. 

In 2014, the NYC Department of Education launched Pre-K for All. Today, nearly 70,000 children are enrolled in free, full-day, high-quality 3K and Pre-K programs across the city.

The Create series is a professional learning opportunity that provides early childhood leaders and teaching teams with strategies to incorporate dance, music, theater, and visual arts into instruction and the school learning environment.

Children then have the opportunity to explore new concepts, express themselves, and form connections across learning domains.

Third Street has been an integral partner in developing the Create professional learning series and providing hands-on professional learning opportunities that excite and incite teachers to intertwine music into young children’s learning environments.

Starting in the spring of 2020, Create transitioned to fully remote programming; offering asynchronous modules as well as live Zoom workshops. Our faculty coaches share strategies for both in-person and remote teaching and encourage participants to share and celebrate one another’s teaching successes during live sessions and using discussion boards.
